Tribute to An Unbeatable Mum

13 “Let me tell you why you are here. You’re here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavours of this earth. If you lose your saltiness, how will people taste godliness? You've lost your usefulness and will end up in the garbage. 14-16 “Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colours in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I'm going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I'm putting you on a light stand. Now that I've put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven. Matthew 5:13-16 – The message version I cannot say how grateful to God I am for having a mum like you! I could not have asked for a better example of a mum, a wife, a grandma, a pastor, a mentor, a prayer partner and a carer. You have shown me how to become a great Christian, wife and mum myself. You have displayed Christ’s love, positive influence both in church and at home, you have not let any of us down; rather you have been a great influencer indeed. Irrespective of age or gender; you affected everyone positively. Wherever you went, you never allow your light to stop shinning – all my neighbours, church members, in-laws and friends remember and love you for all the positive impact you made in their lives. You had enough time for everyone and make it look like there is more than 24 hours in a day. You have challenged me to become a better believer and even a better pastor. I do miss you and words cannot tell what your vacuum means to us all; but we are truly grateful for the values passed across to us all and for the 71 years we have had the opportunity to spend with you. About two years ago; I told my mum she was the Proverbs 31: 23-31 personified. I remember saying, I don’t want her to die and I start saying it by her graveyard; but I wanted her to hear it now that she was still with us. I am very grateful to God I got that chance. For all you meant to me, my siblings, my dad, my husband (your best friend!), my children and the members of Gateway Chapel; we will never forget you. Thank you for making Christ known here on earth and fighting the good fight of faith. I will always love and miss you Bolanle!
